Send A Message

Hello fellow crafters,
Well, I'm not sure how to title this project, but as you read and see the pictures below, you'll understand why I named this post Send A Message.

Our friend has turned 60 and she is retiring from 42 years with the same company.  She's having a birthday/retirement party...get it 60*42... "Who's Counting Anyway"  I used the Jasmine cartridge for the lettering and welded them together in the Cricut Craft Room.
I'm a picture taker, not a professional by any means, and as most of you know from my comments about your beautiful scrapbook pages, I've often noted that I don't scrapbook. I have never done a single page **YIKES**
However, what I do with my pictures, I create a digital photo book online (I use Walmart.com Photo Center, very easy to work their site) and have the book printed.   You add the photos then you can add comments to the photos etc.

Being that I will not know many people at this party, and I'm taking their picture, there will be no way for me to add comments of what those party guests would like to say to Janel.  
So I thought outside the BOX...and came up with a DRY ERASE BOARD and putting the title of her party as the header on the board.  I bought some fun colored dry erase pens and I'm going to let guests write their own comments to Janel and have them hold the board up in front of them and take their picture then I can add it to the photo book. 

I think Janel is going to get a kick out of this...especially when she sees the board being passed around at her party and not really know what the heck that's all about LOL

Christmas Tag

Merry Christmas Eve to all my crafty friends!  Just a really quick post today.  I made some sweet treats for some friends and neighbors. 

This really quick and easy tag is cut from Plantin Schoolbook cartridge.  I sized it in the Cricut Craft Room and then also used the same cartridge to cut a rectangle out to fit in the center of the tag.

For my sentiment, I used MCT stamp Just For You from the Just For You stamp set.  Very super easy for a quick tag you might need for your last minute gifts.

Christmas Gift

Hello my crafty friends,
I'd like to share with you today a gift idea I learned from Ruthie over at September Ninth, and her second day of My Creative Time 12 Days Of Christmas. 

Start out with a bottle of hand soap, or any kind of clear bottle doesn't have to be hand soap, I was even thinking you could do this with body splash etc.  But for this project, I chose the lime green, Cool Cucumber scented hand soap for my project.

Now here's a tip:  When choosing your soap bottles, think about the labels that are adhered to them.  These bottles, had a clear plastic sticker on one side and a paper sticker on the other.  The clear plastic sticker came off pretty easy, but the paper sticker was a little more stubborn.  We, I say, WE, because hubby helped :-) with the Goo Gone to get the sticker off.  I have to say I've never used Goo Gone before...so just make sure you leave yourself some time to work off the stickers.  Once that's done this project is a breeze.

 

You'll need some transparency film you can get at your local stationary store or online, I bought mine on ebay really cheap.  Use Stayz On ink for your image. If you don't use Stayz On ink, you'll find the soap will be a solvent and remove any other type of ink you use.  
Cut a few  strips, measuring the size of your bottle, cut it short of course so it will fit.  The stamp I used for my image is from MCT It's a Magical Season stamp set.

I had a few that my stamp slipped...it's very slippery on this film...you can see in the picture above the last part of Season is a little 'thick' where it slipped a little. But I think it's still usable.  Once your image is stamped on the film, let it dry for a few minutes.  Then remove the spout of your bottle, and roll your film a little so that it can slip into the bottle.  Use the spout if you need to move it around. And place your spout behind the image.  Viola!  A great Christmas Gift!

Simply Crafts December Winner!

Ok, I have to say I really like Christmas....the decorations, the spirit, and yes, the presents. The whole thing just gives me warm fuzzies inside :-)

Season's Greetings

Hello my crafty friends!   Oh, the weather outside is frightful.....Gee, it's really cold outside.  I'm in Arizona, and on the river, and it's NOT suppose to be this cold.  But then for me, anything below 70 degrees is cold LOL

Today, I'd like to share a quick and easy card for when you're in a bind and need something quick.  Although my card is for Christmas, you can do this for any occasion. 

I started with white card stock and added a layer of red textured paper.  Then cut a square from a patterned paper pad.  Cut a scalloped circle, or square, what ever suits you (this was actually the scrap piece from another project) punch holes on both ends, thread some ribbon.  You can stamp any sentiment.  This cute penguin stamp is from  MCT From Our Home To Yours stamp set.

MCT 12 Days Of Christmas - WINNER!

Oh my Gosh! Oh my Gosh! Oh my Gosh!

You're not going to believe this....Miss Emma, over at My Creative Time had her 12 Days of Christmas blog hop for some SERIOUS Christmas Inspiration.  Emma and her DT did an AWESOME job. 
Along, with the hop, there was a PRIZE...not just any prize, the ULTIMATE prize. It was a collection of Emma's Favorite things.  So each day she'd announce what the prize of the day was on her videos.
At the end she choose ONE person to win all the FABULOUS PRIZES.
And guess what?......IT WAS ME!   Whoooo Hooooo!   Here are a few pictures.

 

Stamp sets including her new font set and also (lower case letters dies not pictured)  I already have the It's a magical season and From our home to yours stamp sets, so I'm sharing the love with my friend Shannon.  These will be her FIRST MCT stamp sets and I'm so excited she will have them.

 

Twine and embellishments from Liz's paper loft.  I'm so excited to get these I haven't used them before.

A couple of 6x6 paper pads.   Wheeeeeeeee!  I'm still so over joyed with Emma's gift of FUN!

Happy Birthday Peachy Keen Queen Kathy!!!

Although I only own four sets of the Peachy Keen stamps, I have to say I just LOVE them.  I couldn't miss out on this challenge and had to pay tribute to Kathy, the Queen of Peachy Keen stamps.

So here's the skinny on today's challenge:
 Peachy Keen Challenge 47 :: Sketch Challenge :: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO KATHY!

Guidelines:

• Design must be new, created specifically for this challenge
• Must be a card or layout that follows the sketch provided
• Link up by 12/19 - 11:59 pm EDT
• Remember, you don't have to use our stamps to link up, but they are required to earn TOP PEACH!

 

For my card, I chose a 5x5 on lime green card stock.  The four blocks are from Recollections Paisley and Damask set. I alternated the two different styles in lime green in the block form.

 

 

 

The cupcake is cut from Doodlecharms cartridge.  I used plain white card stock for the base and the same lime green as the card for the frosting. And glitter paper for the candle and pop dotted it.  As for the Peachy Face, I used from the Happy Lashes Assortment.  I used red and  pink jelly roll pen to color in the mouth.

 

 

 

I had some lime green ribbon and some buttons for the final embellishments on this card.

 The sentiment is from a set bought from Joann's that fit the area perfectly. It's like the face is saying "YEA, IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY!!!"

Reindeer Poop

Hello all my crafty friends! 
Today I'm sharing a project for the December Simply Crafts Challenge Blog.  This month's challenge is to use the Reindeer from the Doodlecharms cartridge.  (there's still time to enter, check it out HERE)

So I had a thought in mind of what I'd like to do, then a co-worker asked if I'd make a Reindeer Poop treat baggie for her. 

I cut out "Reindeer" and two "P's" using the cricut craft room, caps cut at 1 inch and lower case at .681 inch and welded the letters for "reindeer" together.  I then cut two reindeer about 1.236w x 1.597h inches from the Doodlecharms cartridge and used them for the "O's".  I hid the cut face so I could use my Peachy Keen faces Critter Faces Set A Medium  using a boy and girl face and added a red bow. 

I colored in the eyes with white jelly roll pen, then when it dried I used Glossy Accents (I love this stuff) and to top the faces off I used sparkly RED glitter glue for their noses.

I then glued them to background cardstock and viola!   Glued the cardstock to a snack size baggie and again Viola!  Fill it up with candy, I used Peanut M&Ms (my fav), so this reindeer poops whismically! LOL    Quick and easy and super cute!

Countdown To Christmas

My, my, it's been a long time since my last post...a MONTH.  All is well over here, have been trying to get everything all ready for the holidays...did some traveling for Thanksgiving and making card sets for family and friends.

I wanted to share a Christmas Countdown I made for my sister's kids.  Their Elf on a Shelf was writing the countdown on napkins....and I was like, "Nope, that's not gonna work" so this is what I made and was sent from their Elf's, "Mr. Mint" secretary from the North Pole *tee hee*

 

 

The base is 12 x 12 from Recollections Jolly and Bright I bought last year after Xmas sale.  Note: Santa is in a car and not a sleigh...well I had thought about that too but thought what the heck it looks pretty cool....well, my 5 year old nephew noticed it RIGHT AWAY!!!  Yikes!  I told my sister to tell him that's how he delivers presents to kids who don't have chimneys LOL  Guess it worked. :-)

 

 

 

Sorry these pics are a little blurry.  The letters were all cut from the Cricut Craft Room. I welded them together to make it easier to display.  I cut a white shadow layer and red textured letters. Then I used a white jelly pen and stitched all around the letters.

 

The numbers were each cut individually for the BIG COUNTDOWN.  I didn't have a lot of time, so I ended up cutting out little items from the same paper pad to add to each letter.  When you make the countdown, be sure to make two number 1's and two number 2's so you can have 11 and 22 as days. :-)



Here are more numbers.   I put magnets on the 12x 12 and magnets on all the numbers.  This countdown now proudly resides on my sisters fridge and the kids change the numbers each morning!
